About this opportunity:
Operates a bailer machine to secure, package and bind large volumes of clothing. Loads and unloads trucks performing lifting of heavy objects on a regular basis. Assists in maintaining the neatness and orderliness of the warehouse or Sorting Room area.
Responsibilities include:
Loads and fluffs clothes in the bailer machine to secure a solid bail of clothing with wire.
Operates forklift to transport bail to storage truck.
Unloads trucks of donated items being delivered to the warehouse.
Performs heavy lifting of articles up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
Recycles cardboard boxes and cuts cardboard for use with the bailer machine.
Stores shoes in storage areas.
Collects and empties trash for the warehouse area.
Assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the warehouse area; sweeps floors and cleans bathrooms.
Monitors the warehouse entrances and dock area to deter theft.
Locks warehouse doors at closing time ensuring the security of the warehouse.
Performs other related work as required.
What we are looking for in you:
No formal education or experience required although some experience operating heavy equipment and performing heavy lifting is preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to communicate the English language. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Ability to lift heavy (50-100 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment occasionally. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
