Location: Camp Heart O’ Hills, Welling, OK Position Type: Temporary Full-Time   About this opportunity:The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Camp Music Conservatory Program Assistant for the Arkansas and Oklahoma Conservatory of Music and Arts, located in Welling, OK.   This is a summer position at Camp Heart O’ Hills. This position summary is not all-inclusive but is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this role. Incumbents may be asked to perform additional responsibilities and tasks beyond those listed.   The Conservatory Program Assistant supports the delivery of conservatory program activities and events. This includes assisting with the preparation and organization of facilities, maintaining cleanliness, ensuring the availability of supplies, and contributing to the smooth operation of the conservatory program.   Key Responsibilities: Event Setup and Maintenance: Prepare and tear down spaces for evening programs, meetings, and rehearsals. Ensure spaces for recitals and worship services are clean, organized, and ready for use. Complete all setups in a timely manner and well in advance of scheduled events. Coordinate setup and logistics with staff and the Conservatory Director. Supply Management: Deliver snacks and meals when necessary. Maintain and store conservatory equipment used for programs and activities. Ensure all supplies for evening programs are available and purchase items in advance, as needed. Address any additional supply needs that arise throughout the summer. Student Supervision and Interaction: Work closely with children and occasionally supervise them during program activities. Promote proper behavior, enforce disciplinary guidelines when necessary, and encourage positive behavior in students. Ensure students are punctual, responsible, and in compliance with camp rules and regulations. Provide guidance and serve as a positive role model for students. Team Participation: Assist with program activities as assigned by the Conservatory Director. Participate in staff meetings, Bible studies, worship services, night programs, and Evensong. Maintain a clean and organized personal living space, ready for inspection.   What we are looking for in you: Strong organizational and time-management skills to ensure smooth event and program execution. Attention to detail, especially in preparing and maintaining program spaces. Knowledge of child and youth behavior and development principles. Ability to ensure the safety of students and staff. Strong planning, development, and facilitation skills for youth programs. Effective communication skills and the ability to mentor students. Knowledge of music education principles and the ability to teach music theory and classes in group or private settings. Six months of experience teaching in your artistic discipline preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required skills and abilities. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to communicate and work effectively with groups, providing necessary instruction to students and staff. Visual and auditory ability to assess camper and staff behavior, identify hazards, and respond appropriately to emergencies. Physical ability to supervise students, respond to emergencies, and apply first aid. Must possess strength and endurance to maintain constant supervision of students. Physical tasks may include climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to perform activities are required. Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate activities. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours in a seven-day-a-week schedule.
