The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has job openings for three Counselors for the Boys and Girls Club, located in Asheville, NC.
Job Summary
Supervises and leads youth activities and programs for the After School Program and Summer Camps. Maintains records of program attendance. Maintains program facilities, equipment, and materials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the proper rules and techniques of common childhood games and recreational activities.
Ability to teach children Christian values as well as general early childhood education curriculum.
Ability to facilitate and lead age-appropriate childhood programs and activities.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
and
One year experience leading youth activities,
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid State Driver’s License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing,and walking on a frequent change basis.
Work is performed in a indoor and outdoor recreational environmentwhere there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
