This position is responsible for:
Position Summary
Maintains a clean working environment for all staff and visitors at the Salvation Army building and grounds, promoting health and safety. Duties include picking up and taking out trash, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning, and stocking bathrooms, making sure buildings are secure, cleaning windows and mirrors, and performing minor building repairs. Driving the box truck for pickups, helping with the food pantry, making boxes, and preparing food for give aways.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND one (1) year experience performing general housekeeping duties, warehouse work, and driving. A driver's license is a must. any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses/Certifications
Valid State Driver’s License, required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to perform general maintenance, cleaning activities for building and grounds.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Able to use a pallet jack
Able to drive a box truck
Ability to read and communicate the English language.
Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing housekeeping and minor maintenance work.
Maintains a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.
Ability to deal comfortably with stressful situations.
Must be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
Ability to interact professionally with the public and Salvation Army Officers and staff.
Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army philosophy and mission.
Mental, Physical Abilities
Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (over 50lbs.) materials, supplies and equipment frequently.
Heavy mobility duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching, or transporting merchandise on frequent change basis relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
Working Conditions
The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions with activities occurring inside and outside. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
The worker is subject to extreme cold and heat with temperatures typically below 32° or above 100° for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
The worker is subject to noise; and there is enough noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above ambient noise level. Work is subject to hazards.
Work includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
