The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, is looking for a PT Lifeguard for our Sapulpa Red Shield Youth Center, located in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Job Summary:
Ensures the health, safety and welfare of those using the aquatics facilities of The Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center of Metro Tulsa located in Creek County-Sapulpa, Oklahoma; provides constant surveillance of pool activities; observes swimmers, and enforces regulations in the guarding of life and the prevention of accidents; maintains the cleanliness of the pool and pool area; monitors and controls the chemical levels of pool water ensuring proper levels are maintained at all times; prepares pool records in an accurate and complete manner.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of proper pool management.
Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
Ability to enforce all pool rules.
Ability to test and adjust pool water to ensure the proper chemical balance as well as the safety of the swimmers.
Ability to prepare and maintain up-to-date pool records.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.,
and
One year experience working as a lifeguard,
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
LGI Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
C.P.R., First Aid, and A.E.D. Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
WSI Certification (preferred)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
Ability to swim and perform lifesaving activities.
Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
Moderate amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, bending, twisting, and carrying light to moderately objects (up to 50 lbs.) occasionally.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an indoor pool environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with humidity, heat, noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
