Lifeguard - PT (Indoor Pool) Sapulpa Red Shield Youth Center

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, is looking for a PT Lifeguard for our Sapulpa Red Shield Youth Center, located in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.   Job Summary: Serve as lifeguard for all pool operations; provide constant surveillance of pool activities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of life saving techniques and ability to perform them in emergency situations. Ability to supervise swimmers and provide constant surveillance of pool activities in order to ensure swimmer safety and to respond to emergency rescue when needed. Ability to enforce all swimming pool rules. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to swim and meet lifesaving requirements. Education and Experience: Must be at least 15 years of age. Complete the required training to be a certified lifeguard AND six months experience as a lifeguard OR any equivalent demonstration of training or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Certifications: Red Cross Certified Lifeguard Physical Requirements:  Ability to meet attendance requirements. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor pool environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with humidity, heat, noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
