JOB TITLE:                          Social Services Program Manager The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Program Manager Social Services for the Orlando Area Command, located in Orlando, FL. Job Summary: The Social Services Program Manager supervises, manages, and participates in the day-to-day operations and counseling and advocacy activities of the Social Services department; supervises counseling and advocacy staff and ensures work follows established policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to drive a vehicle. Knowledge of the principles and practices of social service program development and administration. Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing programs. Successful completion of Safe from Harm training within 90 days of employment. Knowledge of the principles and practices of crisis intervention counseling. Knowledge of family dynamics and issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Knowledge of social service resources and agencies in the community. Knowledge of effective communication and motivational practices. Ability to motivate, lead, supervise, and evaluate subordinate personnel. Ability to perform public speaking. Ability to develop, implement and enforce program policies and procedures. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during a crisis. Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors. Ability to converse with participants to obtain pertinent information. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and complete case notes and participant records. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and timelines. Ability to build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with participants and community agencies. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Master’s degree in social work strongly preferred AND four years progressively responsible experience performing social services work with at least one year in a supervisory capacity OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Licenses and Certifications: Valid State Driver’s License Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language. Ability to perform mathematical computations. Ability to perform public speaking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
