Salvation Army Seasonal Angel Tree Worker

JOB SUMMARY: Works at the Mall as needed to collect Angel Tree gifts from shoppers. Manages Angel Tree at that location as needed. Works in the Christmas center; lifts, carries, loads and unloads variety of angel tree gifts; works to promote the safety and security of the warehouse; assists with the cleanup, lay out, and set up of the warehouse; assists with possible pick up from the malls or corporations, if necessary. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:                        This job description should not be interpreted as all-inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position.  The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description. Directs customers at the Mall on how the Angel Tree program works. Gives out Angels and records all needed information for each adopted angel. Collects angel tree gifts from shoppers and tracks all gifts as instructed Helps to load angel tree gifts at the Mall into vehicles and helps with delivery to warehouse. Lifts and stacks donations in the warehouse. Distributes donations to their proper place as instructed in the warehouse. Helps with the proper placing of all angel tree gifts Helps with distribution of Angel Tree gifts on distribution day(s) Provides professional and polite customer service to all persons in the warehouse including all clients coming to pick up Angel Tree gifts. Clean and service assigned areas in the Christmas Center. Pick up trash, empty garbage container, and remove all trash to area for disposal. Maintains good relationship with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army. Assist with angel tree pick-ups from the drop-off locations. Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in working in all areas of the Christmas warehouse operations as needed. Performs other related work as required. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Work requires an ability to follow instructions acquired through a partial high school education. Friendly personality. Must have physical strength adequate to carry and unload materials from truck and in warehouse. Must be able to work independently and must be willing to work shifts that vary from day to night and be on call weekends. Must be organized. Job requires considerable physical effort and may entail some pressure and fatigue. Proactive demeanor and willingness to work with individuals of various backgrounds and ages. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred, but not required. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers. MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work requires working in a warehouse environment with exposure to fluctuating temperatures and discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. All employees recognize that The Salvation Army is a church and agree that they will do nothing as an employee of The Salvation Army to undermine its religious mission.  STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The purpose of a job description is to outline the essential functions unique to a particular job within a specific department.  Job descriptions are used to recruit, train, and evaluate employees.
