About this opportunity:
The Thrift Store Manager oversees the daily operations of a single store, managing a small staff to ensure adherence to policies and procedures. Responsibilities include processing, pricing, and displaying donated items to maximize sales, assisting customers, and maintaining an attractive, organized store environment. The manager is also responsible for inventory control, security, and financial accountability, while planning and assigning tasks to both store and warehouse personnel and evaluating their performance.
Key responsibilities:
Administers and monitors the day-to-day operations of a small Thrift Store; serves as lead worker to volunteers, beneficiaries, and/or subordinate store personnel; trains and instruct staff in the proper methods and procedures for performing work; inspects work in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness.
Plans, schedules, assigns, and evaluates work of Store Clerks, Sorting Room Workers, and other employees of the Thrift Store; instructs and trains employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with established store policies and procedures; assists employees in resolving operational or personnel problems; evaluates employees’ performance and recommends disciplinary action when necessary.
Assists customers by explaining store policy and responding to questions regarding the pricing and/or purchasing of items; ensures that all customers visiting the store have a pleasant experience.
Prepares and delivers bank deposits
Places and arranges items in the store as directed; checks all store displays to ensure that items are maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner; rotates and/or rearranges stock as directed; returns items to the proper location after customer's have handled.
Opens and/or closes store doors in accordance with store schedule.
Prepares and maintains a variety of Thrift Store sales reports, records, logs, etc.; ensures the accuracy, completeness and timelines of the same.
Schedules donation pick-ups; ensures the accountability of all donated items; ensures donations are collected in compliance with established policies and procedures.
Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment for the store and warehouse operations.
Recruits and supervises volunteers working in the Thrift Store and warehouse.
What we are looking for in you:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Three years progressively responsible experience working in a retail store environment with at least one year experience in a supervisory capacity
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: The position requires knowledge of retail store management and effective customer relations, as well as the ability to maintain accurate bookkeeping records and assess store operations to address deficiencies. The ability to price donated merchandise fairly is also essential. Mental and physical abilities needed include regular attendance, proficiency in reading, writing, and communication in English, and the ability to perform basic mathematical computations. The role involves frequent walking, standing, kneeling, or squatting, with occasional periods of sitting or operating a vehicle. Work is conducted in a typical store environment, with minimal physical discomfort due to weather changes.
