Position Type: Regular Part-Time
Pay Range: $18.00 - $18.00/hour
About this opportunity:
This position is responsible for operating the Salvation Army Grate Patrol program vehicle to transport meals, serve meals, transport volunteers, and occasionally distribute supplies to individuals who are homeless and living on the streets of Washington, DC. This position is part-time only, and the hours are from 5:00 PM- 9:00 PM typically working 7 days on and 7 days off shifts.
Key responsibilities:
Provides evening transportation and serving of meals and/or transportation of volunteers to 5-6 stops in the downtown DC area to provide meals to individuals who are homeless
Handle and serve food in a safe and sanitary manner
Support efforts of Grate Patrol Case Manager I to identify individuals in need of immediate assistance and/or in immediate crisis
What we are looking for in you:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
AND
Two years’ experience operating an automotive vehicle,
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Valid Driver’s License and must meet TSA MVR Requirements.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and extended trips.Work requires driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.
