Pay Range: $13.89 - $14.00
About this opportunity:
Provides crisis counseling, follow-up, information and referral, personal advocacy. criminal justice support, emergency legal advocacy, telephone contact, assistance with filing Victim Compensation to domestic violence victims.
Key responsibilities:
Provides criminal justice support.
Emergency legal advocacy.
Telephone contact.
Provides information to participants regarding court proceedings, filing of injunctions, victim compensation, and relocation.
assistance with filing Victim Compensation to domestic violence victims Assists in securing Legal Aide attorneys for emergency legal advocacy.
What we are looking for in you:
Associates degree in a human service related field, sociology, psychology, counseling, social work, criminology or related field; AND
Two years experience working with victims of domestic violence and or sexual assault OR
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to drive a vehicle in order to serve as advocate for victims at the hospital or police department and to transport victims to court related appointments.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
Work is performed in a social service environment where exposure to communicable diseases and infections are possible. Work is performed in a social service environment where exposure to communicable and infectious diseases is possible.
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
