Victim Advocate

Location: Panama City Corps, Florida Position Type: Full-Time Pay Range: $14.75 - $15.00 About this opportunity: Provides crisis counseling, follow-up, information and referral, personal advocacy, criminal justice support, emergency legal advocacy, telephone contact, and assistance with filing Victim Compensation to domestic violence victims. Key responsibilities: Assists domestic violence hotline callers and provides telephone counseling, safety planning, and information and referral services.   Ensures house guidelines are understood and followed; records incidents and notifies supervisor of any special circumstances or unusual problems; ensures security of facility and clients.   Performs housekeeping duties as needed to ensure cleanliness of the shelter. Distributes towels, linens, personal hygiene items, or other items as needed by residents. What we are looking for in you: Associates degree in a human service-related field, sociology, psychology, counseling, social work, criminology, or related field AND Two years experience working with victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault; OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.   Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
