The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Summer Program Youth Development Professional for the Hattiesburg, MS Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center, located in Hattiesburg, MS.
Job Summary: Plans, implements, supervises members and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, supporting the TSA Red Shield Youth Center priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship. May oversee special programs and/or events, and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary. In absence of the Program Coordinator; may provide supervision oversight to other Youth Development Professionals to ensure continuity of program services at unit/branch locations. Builds and maintains a professional relationship with all Youth Center members and their families in order to help advance the mission of The Salvation Army.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. Ability to interact with children and teens with patience and respect. Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports in an accurate and complete manner. Ability to support and coordinate activities and events. Ability to clearly communicate roles and responsibilities to individuals and groups. Ability to schedule meetings. Ability to interact with co-workers, volunteers and the public in a positive, professional manner. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Ability to operate and generally maintain all office equipment, including but into limited to the copier, fax machine. Proficiency with Windows & Microsoft Office 365, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D. and previous work in related field with Children and Youth preferred.Licenses and Certifications: Must possess a valid driver's license and a clear driving record and be able to become and remain certified to drive Salvation Army vehicles per Salvation Army insurance requirements.
