What are the responsibilities and job description for the Detox Counselor (Full-time, swing shift) position at The Salvation Army USA Western Territory?
The Salvation Army ATS is seeking to fill a full-time Detox Counselor position (2:30pm to 10:30pm, Sunday to Thursday). Under the Detox Clinical Supervisor, the Detox Counselor is responsible for providing Social Detox clients with the clinical services necessary to realize a safe detoxification from alcohol and other drugs. Provides screening, admission, discharge, and referral services to Detox clients. Provides individual counseling and conducts alcohol education and skill building sessions designed to motivate the Detox client to seek treatment. Handle crises and client issues for all ATS clients.
Minimum of one-year experience providing substance abuse treatment services, emergency medical services, or CNA. Must demonstrate measurable progress annually toward obtaining either a CSAC or a master's degree in behavioral health science. Knowledge of community resources and ability to communicate effectively with outside agencies. Ability to relate comfortably and supportively with intoxicated persons; function as a team member; respond calmly and efficiently to stressful situations and crises; and keep accurate records. Must have current CPR/First Aid Training.
