What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Counselor position at The Salvation Army USA Western Territory?
The Salvation Army Addiction Treatment Services (ATS) is seeking to fill a full-time Residential Substance Use Disorder Counselor position. Under the direct supervision of the Residential Clinical Supervisor, the Residential Counselor will provide residential clients with individual counseling for personal development, and conduct addiction group counseling, skills building sessions and alcohol/drug education classes. The Residential Counselor shall implement residential program activities and provide supervision of residents.
Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or an advanced clinical degree in human services, such as a master's in clinical psychology or master's in counseling psychology, or social work preferred. For non-CSACs, must be willing to work toward obtaining CSAC certification within two years of hire. Two years direct work experience in substance use disorder treatment services preferred. Must have a demonstrated ability to produce effective treatment plans and updates and perform appropriate discharge planning including producing viable discharge summaries. Requires effective verbal and written communications skills, maturity, insight and sound judgment.
