BASIC PURPOSE
To Supervise Children 18 months to 5 years, provide guidance, educational and social emotional development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily planning and execution of all classroom and outdoor activities (lesson plan).
- Preparing a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing, which allows children to grow and explore, including setting up the physical environment to meet the changing needs of the children.
- Interacting with children and encouraging their involvement in activities.
- Establishing and maintaining good communication with parents daily.
- Supervising children in the bathroom.
- Mealtime and naptime duties, including setting up and cleaning before and after activities.
- Maintaining observation records daily on each child.
- Maintaining and building children's working folders.
- Maintaining evidence of learning throughout the classroom.
- Provide appropriate and positive discipline to the child.
Periodic Duties:
- Required DRDP's reports 2 times per year.
- Keep inventory of play equipment yearly.
- Complete daily observations/ lesson plans.
- Attend staff, workshops, conferences, and in-service training and assigned.
- Participate in parent/ teacher conferences 2 times per year.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- A love of children and ability to work with them.
- Understanding of developmental stages and ability to create appropriate activities.
- Ability to oversee both small and large groups of children at the same time.
- General knowledge of nutrition, health and first aid.
- Good command of the English language both written and oral.
- Good command of the English language both written oral. AA/BS degree prefer, or presently work toward either degree.
- Have units in Early Childhood education or presently enrolled in classes.
- The applicant will agree to complete the requirements to obtain an instructional permit within mandated time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the ability to remain at a keyboard or desk for periods of up to two hours with minimal interruptions. The ability to operate under stressful working conditions in a rapidly changing work environment with multiple priorities is required. The employee must occasionally lift or/ or move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to fill in for any subordinates jobs when necessary, which may require the employee to stand for up to 2 hours or more at a time; must be able to walk, run, reach, and grasp with hands and arms. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform the essential duties with or without accommodation.
