Hospitality Assistant

In addition to exciting Summer Day and Overnight camp experiences for youth, Camp Allegheny's Conference and Retreat Center welcomes various groups throughout the year for team building activities, conferences, and celebrations.

Camp Allegheny Conference and Retreat Center is hiring a Hospitality Assistant to provide exceptional service to guests, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience.

This position is considered Casual/As needed and will assist the hospitality team for various events throughout the year.

• Assist with setting up tables, serving lines, and dining areas for meals and events
• Serve food and beverages to guests
• Maintain a clean and organized serving line, dining area, and kitchen
• Assist with cleaning and sanitizing the dining hall after meals
• Support the Retreat Director and Hospitality Supervisor with various requests and tasks as needed
• Assist with set-up and tear down of events in all Camp Allegheny facilities.
• Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, and equipment and maintain a clean and organized dish room, including cleaning and sanitizing dishwashers, sinks, and surrounding areas
• Assist with cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen, including sweeping and mopping floors
• Restock dishes, utensils, and equipment as needed
• Assist with the cleanliness and upkeep of the Camp Allegheny facilities when required, including guest housing, dining hall, public bathrooms, etc.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide exceptional customer service, responding promptly to guests' requests and needs
• Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure seamless service and a positive guest experience
• Proactively communicate essential information to the Retreat Director, Hospitality Supervisor, and other staff to ensure seamless hospitality services
• Maintain a neat and clean appearance
• Bring all problems to the attention of the Retreat Director or Hospitality Supervisor first
• Willingly cooperate with all members of the staff regardless of their position
• Maintain a high level of interaction with guests and staff
• Be a constructive member of the staff, contributing to the health, harmony, and happiness of the Camp Allegheny family
• Be in accord with camp aims and policies, always being loyal to camp
• Communicate with staff, guests, and vendors in a professional and courteous manner
• Possess visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity
• Ability to communicate and work with groups

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history.
• PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army’s KeepSAfe training required.
• Previous experience in hospitality, dishwashing, food service, or a related field
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or Certified GED
• One to three years of experience
• Knowledge of Health and Fire Codes a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 20 per week

• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Evening shift
