What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance position at The Salvation Army Western PA Division?
The Salvation Army of Sharon is hiring a Maintenance position to support its corps location. This position is responsible for the general maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance of the facility and grounds. The Maintenance worker is also responsible for the loading and unloading of scheduled merchandise from donor’s homes for the Family Store. and for the transporting and loading of food pantry supplies from various assigned locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in opening and closing the facility as assigned and making sure the building is secure at all times.
- Responsible for daily trash removal from the entire facility.
- Assist in repairs and painting, as part of routine maintenance. Painting to include prep, patch and finish.
- Responsible for scheduled hard floor maintenance to include: damp mopping, machine scrubbing, stripping, waxing and high speed burnishing of VCT and ceramic tile floors.
- Assist with exterior grounds maintenance to include grass cutting, bush and brush trimming, snow and ice removal prior to the facility opening
- Responsible for weekly visual inspection of corps vehicles and reporting of any observed damage or needed maintenance.
- Responsible for maintaining fuel levels and interior and exterior cleanliness of the Corps vehicles. This includes vehicles on loan or rented by the Corps.
- Responsible for set up and tear down of various rooms in the facility as needed for daily or special events.
- Moving of furniture and other items as needed
- Participate in monthly test of alarm systems installed in building.
- Responsible to inventory and order maintenance supplies as needed including cleaning products, toilet paper, etc.
- Oversight of community service volunteers if assigned to maintenance.
- Perform minor repairs to building; heating, plumbing, and electrical equipment as assigned.
- Responsible to drive and pick up donations for the Family Store & Food Pantry.
- Must be punctual for all scheduled appointments.
- Must follow the store manger’s direction in deciding what donations are acceptable for resale in store.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledgeable of local roads and able to find locations.
- Good customer/donor communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Knowledge of appropriate use of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- General knowledge of building maintenance.
- General handy man experiences desirable.
Requirements:
- Valid PA Driver’s License
- Safe Driving Record.
- Able to lift 100 pounds
- All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history.
- PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army's KeepSAfe training required.
