As the Development Director, you will play a pivotal role in creating lasting partnerships with donors, driving fundraising initiatives, and ensuring that The Salvation Army's programs and services can continue to meet the needs of the communities we serve. What You’ll Do:
Donor Cultivation & Community Partnerships (70%)
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies to meet our annual goals in cooperation with local advisory board and other departments accordingly.
- Cultivate relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners to secure major gifts and planned donations.
- Formulate fund development policies, procedures, and programs while following legal protocols for major and planned gift acceptance policy.
- Lead special fundraising events, from Christmas appeals to annual fundraisers, working alongside staff and volunteers to maximize community involvement.
- Coordinate grant applications and oversee the submission of the United Way, corporate, and foundation grants.
- Serve as the lead for the Capital Campaign process, from feasibility studies to campaign phases, ensuring project success and financial support.
- Manage donor stewardship and ensure timely follow-ups and reporting.
- Oversee direct mail program, process tock donations, bequests, and other major and planned gift donations.
Marketing & Public Relations (15%)
- Develop and execute a marketing plan to promote Salvation Army programs and services.
- Oversee the creation of promotional materials and social media content that highlights the impact of our work in the community.
- Act as the PR point person, ensuring consistent branding and clear communication across all platforms.
Capital Campaign Management (10%)
- Lead the local capital campaign initiative by working with consulting firms and Salvation Army leadership to secure the necessary funding.
- Manage campaign progress and communicate effectively with leadership to ensure alignment with Salvation Army guidelines.
Board Development & Community Relations (5%)
- Attend advisory board meetings and collaborate with board members to further fundraising goals.
- Build relationships with local service organizations, such as Rotary and Kiwanis, to maintain civic community connections.
Your Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- 3-5 years of fundraising experience, with experience in CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
- Strong knowledge of grant applications, corporate and foundation donations, and fundraising strategies.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to make compelling presentations and engage diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media management.
- A valid Wisconsin driver’s license and the ability to travel within the local area.
