Location: The Salvation Army – Camp Hidden Lake
Position Title: Maintenance Worker & Groundskeeper
About this opportunity:
Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performs routine groundskeeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work; regularly cleans building and sanitizes as necessary.
Responsibilities include:
Participates in the painting of walls.
Performs minor/routine maintenance work including but not limited to replacing lightbulbs, fixing damaged outlets, installing new lights, repairing dents and/or holes in walls, etc.
Performs preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels.
Sweeps, vacuums, strips, mops and waxes floors.
Performs routine maintenance/cleaning of sidewalks and roads.
Assembles, moves, and maintains office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc; builds or assists in building displays and props for events.
Monitors activities and visitors of building and grounds to ensure security.
Cleans surroundings after each repair job; ensures that all tools are collected and surroundings are left neat and clean.
Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department.
Picks up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work.
Empties trash cans on a regular basis.
Mows grass and edges lawns, sidewalks, and curbs; cleans debris.
Rakes, vacuums, and blows leaves and debris from sidewalks and parking lots.
Cuts-down trees; trims trees and bushes.
Ensures proper maintenance of grounds keeping equipment; lubricates mowers and tractor fittings; installs tractor tires as needed.
Cleans gutters of buildings.
Drives Salvation Army vehicles in order to support TSA events or as requested by management.
What we are looking for in you:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
and
Two years of experience in handling minor building and maintenance repairs and good skill in the use of hand, lawn, and power tools,
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to perform heavy lifting.
Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects (25-50 lbs.).
Physical ability to "team lift" heavy materials, supplies and equipment (50-100 lbs) occasionally.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions.
Work requires working with cleaning chemicals and may involve discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
