Camp Counselor - Summer Camp

Reporting directly to the Camp Coordinator, the Counselor is responsible for the supervision of the children enrolled in the Kids Summer Adventure program.

This is a seasonal position running from 6/26/25-8/1/15. Monday through Friday - 35 hours/week

• Supervise and lead activites/games during the program.
• Uphold program policies and rules.
• Ensure children are on time for all activities.
• Monitor children at all times.
• Report any health or emotion problems observed in children to Corps Officers.
• Attend any staff meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma/GED required with 2 years related experience
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and exercise initiative
• Ability to take charge and motivate others
• Ability to work with a wide variety of ages and demographic groups
• Ability to observe camper behavior, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures and respond appropriately
• Must have enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self control
• College students/graduates with previous camp/childcare experience preferred
• Valid NY State Driver License that meets The Salvation Army’s insurance requirements
• Professionally and ethically represent The Salvation Army and its mission to the staff, families, and community
