This position is responsible for
Key responsibilities:
- Provides for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, and healthy manner.
- Researches and prepares monthly lesson plans through established curriculum.
- Provides daily activities for children in designated areas of lesson plan guidelines.
- Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside experience.
- Maintains the classroom materials in an orderly fashion; cleans the kitchen, including countertop, highchairs, sweeping floor, etc., after using the kitchen and playground and restrooms.
- Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food.
- Organizes and supervises recreational activities; observes, monitors, and supervises children on the playground.
- Washes children’s hands and faces after morning play activities, before lunch, and again in late afternoon before parents pick up children, or before dinner, whichever comes first.
- Reports all accidents to the Family Life Center Administrator, Child Care Lead Worker, Nurse or Personnel Officer.
- Closes and locks windows and turns off lights before leaving the Family Life Center and straightens the room before leaving each day to ensure the area is secure.
- Attends and participates in regularly scheduled in-service training sessions; follows guidelines provided on Standards of Performance.
- Attains and maintains annual certification/ attends monthly classes regarding the same.
- Completes quarterly observation sheets on each child and submits the same to the Family Life Center Administrator.
- Family Life Center employees will be asked to work some overtime.
- Works with the Family Life Center Administrator to provide field trips for children.
- Decorates rooms with up-to-date themes and seasons.
- Accompanies children to Atlanta Temple Corps as assigned; attends Jr. Soldier Class when assigned; sits in Church with older children who do not attend this class.
- Assists with transporting children whenever needed; ensures the safety and protection of children at all times.
- Assists children in performing homework when necessary.
- Serves as a substitute teacher or floater between childcare and teen center as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required, AND
- two years' experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school, OR
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
