About this opportunity :
Serves as a technical resource to the Area Command, local Corps, and Information Technology management by working to ensure that all divisional business processes and systems (Active Directory, computers, printers, copiers, telephones, cameras, Cisco VoIP, and video conferencing etc) are supported by the appropriate information technology systems and that these systems and processes are fully integrated and aligned in support of daily operations and department needs. Works to ensure that these systems are configured properly in accordance with THQ and territorial networks. Provides advanced level of technical support and problem-solving assistance to all computer users on-site and in the field via telephone and on-site visits. Travels extensively in support of regions of responsibility. Assist in the troubleshooting of voip / telephony problems and also assists in the coordination of certain IT projects as part of the PMO.
Key responsibilities :
- Assists in establishing and maintaining a detailed understanding of all technological and administrative work processes and procedures for the Gulf Coast Area Command, Mobile, New Orleans, and Hattiesburg locations in order to serve as a technical resource for product selection, implementation, daily operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment to include computers, printers, copiers, telephones, cameras, Cisco VoIP, and video conferencing etc.
- Drives to locations within 120 miles of Biloxi to support IT projects / needs.
- Assist with conducting ongoing benchmarking and external assessments of leading products and services available in the industry in order to serve as a resource of information and options available to the IT management.
- Serves as SME on specialized systems used in ALM for IT.
- As directed by IT Management serves with other staff members as communication liaison between sections of IT including development, computer services, and operations; assists in prioritizing work across functional areas. Also assist is coordinating projects in areas of IT and across the multiple sections.
- Monitors service levels and prepares reports on projects as requested
- Assists the IT Management with the IT infrastructure design for Salvation Army buildings as well as other specialized projects as needed.
- Works with IT Management in resolving outstanding service requests; tracks and evaluates frequency and types of service requests in order to detect trends and possible improvements, solutions or preventative action. Acts as an escalation point for technical problems outside of the scope of normal computer problems. Works between other groups in IT under the direction of IT management in resolving issues.
- Maintains the constant security and accountability of communications system users ensuring that users are added and deleted in a timely manner and in accordance with established policies and procedures at all times.
- Assists with the coordination of e-mail installation and set-up of hand held devices including smartphones, iPad’s, etc. during the initial set-up process with Network Services.
- Assists in responding to help desk calls covering all product and services lines.
- Assists in providing technical support to end users.
- Assists in the troubleshooting of VOIP / telephony and in some cases AV as well.
- Assist in the coordination of IT projects in accordance with the PMO and as directed by Area Command or IT Management.
- Serves as a higher-level escalation point for tech support as needed when the scope of troubleshooting may be above their access level or outside the bounds of their troubleshooting responsibility.
- Serves as support for Officer email hosted accounts.
- Works with system users during implementation and on an ongoing basis to ensure systems are fully understood and utilized by users.
- Establishes and maintains the user list process (for new employees / officers, removing old employees / officers) for tracking all 200 concurrent users; ensures proper security levels are maintained at all times based on user privileges and authority; monitors access control list for VOIP systems and handheld devices.
- Establishes records and tracks application codes and changes for specialized systems and some applications; map users; always ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
- Establishes and maintains security groupings; ensures desired security levels are maintained at all times; reports any threats to security goals to the IT management immediately; ensures the confidentiality of the same when warranted.
- Works with functional management to identify, prioritize, and provide process improvement opportunities; makes recommendations to management based on discoveries.
- Coordinates the data migration for all or any contract mandated information systems; audits the same work to ensure data migration is accurate and complete.
- Assists in data mapping processes as required in order to document current and desired processes.
- Coordinates data migration process with Microsoft Outlook for emergency assistance (when required).
- Defines improvement projects and manages project implementation.
- Assists with vendor management and plans / executes system upgrades.
What we are looking for in you :
Education and Experience :
and two years of varied work responsibilities in an Information Technology department, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, driving, lifting and carrying heavy computer equipment (25-50 lbs) 10-15 % of work time. Physical ability to "team lift" heavy materials, supplies and equipment (50-100 lbs) occasionally.
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing, walking or driving a vehicle for site visits. Driving is required in order to travel to region(s) of responsibility.
Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
