Kitchen Aide

DescriptionOVERVIEW : Under the supervision of the Kitchen Supervisor, the Kitchen Aide will assist in food preparation, serving and clean up for daily meals for shelter guests. This includes three meals a day as well as food storage, food inventory and meal reporting for statistics and billing.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Assist with food storage, food preparation, cooking and serving daily meals for shelter clientsPrepare and clean kitchen areas daily, for service and inspectionsCoordinate and supervise the kitchen volunteersCoordinate and work with other kitchen staff in ordering and inventorying food suppliesAny other duties relating to your job as requested by the Supervisors and / or Officers Other related duties as requiredEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : High School Diploma or equivalent (required)18 years of age (required)Experience in nutritional needs of homeless populationsExperience with disadvantaged populations, whether through work, volunteering, or being a member of a disadvantaged population (required)Trained or receiving training on informal mental health / substance abuse evaluationHave or acquire a Serve Safe Certification for Food Handlers PermitSKILLS AND ABILITIES : Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)Ability to coordinate and manage multiple dutiesAbility to prioritize work and multi-taskAbility to communicate effectively and accuratelyEQUIPMENT USED : Relevant kitchen equipmentModern Office Equipment and Relevant SoftwarePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.ADA Statement : Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
