About this opportunity :
Recruits, trains, coordinates, and monitors the work of volunteers ensuring ample staff to meet program needs; prepares records and reports regarding the same. Facilitates the collection of in-kind donations and resources, such donation drives.
Key responsibilities :
- Assesses current Volunteer Program by making regularly scheduled visit to program sites and discusses goals and objectives with Program Directors.
- Works in conjunction with the PR Director to promote volunteerism in The Salvation Army through the local and regional media (television, radio and print).
- Supervises volunteers and volunteer groups.
- Serves as a liaison between volunteers and Program Directors when needed.
- Recruits and participates in the screening and selection of volunteers, ensuring adequate volunteers are maintained to meet program needs.
- Makes speaking visits to clubs, schools, churches, groups, etc.; develops and distributes brochures for recruitment; accompanies corps officers and program directors on visits to clubs for recruitment purposes.
- Recruit and coordinate with local businesses and corporations throughout the year to meet program needs through volunteer opportunities and donation drives, ensuring leadership is updated on all these activities, current and planned.
- Develops and implements efficient TSA-approved training and orientation processes for volunteers.
- Prepares and maintains up-to-date records on all volunteers; prepares annual report regarding the status of the volunteer program.
- Evaluates volunteers on a regular basis; maintains up-to-date performance records; maintains frequent contact with program directors and volunteer group leaders.
- Arranges and conducts tours by groups and / or individuals within The Salvation Army facilities.
- Assists Director of Development in planning and implementing special events including fund-raising events.
- Assists with Gift-in-Kind solicitation and cultivate relationships with potential donors

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Some activities and events will require working in other settings and environments, including Christmas registration & distribution, fundraising events that may be outdoors, annual meetings and other special events.
