As a Senior Data & Analytics Engineer at The Standard, you will be instrumental in developing and leading our data infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to design and implement robust data solutions that support strategic decisions. Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of relevant working experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Python
- Minimum 5 years of experience with SQL
- Proficiency with dbt (data build tool) for data transformations
- Expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery and Google Analytics
- Strong experience with Google Tag Manager (GTM) and setting up custom events in GA4
- Strong familiarity with Git for version control
- Experience with advanced data modeling and ETL processes
- Experience designing, implementing, optimizing, and scaling data pipelines
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to work independently and lead technical projects
Preferred Requirements
- 7 years of working experience in data engineering or analytics roles
- Experience in digital media or news organizations
- Strong understanding of media metrics such as audience engagement, subscriptions, and advertising performance
- Experience in leading cross-functional projects and collaborating with product and engineering teams
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and enhance the data infrastructure, including setting up and managing custom tracking events in GA4, GTM, and GA360 or Amplitude
- Lead the development and optimization of data pipelines to ensure high performance and scalability
- Define and implement internal data infrastructure standards, focusing on best practices for style, maintainability, accuracy, and scalability
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand their data needs and develop and implement solutions that support product tracking and reporting
- Use Google Cloud Platform tools, including BigQuery and Google Analytics, to enhance our data collection, analysis, and reporting capabilities
- Ensure data quality and integrity across all systems, proactively identifying and resolving any issues
