We are seeking a Senior Manager of Data and Analytics to lead our efforts in building a data-driven culture within our organization.
The Senior Manager of Data and Analytics will be responsible for developing and executing a data strategy that supports our editorial, audience, and revenue goals. This leader will oversee data collection, analytics, and reporting, ensuring our teams have the dashboards, tools and insights needed to make informed decisions. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with experience in media analytics (media consumption and funnel metrics), audience segmentation, and business intelligence. Experience in a start-up environment where you will be routinely tasked with stretching beyond the on-paper scope of the role is highly desirable.

The pay range for this role is $140,000-190,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data analytics strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Oversee the collection, integration, and governance of data from multiple sources, including web analytics, subscriptions, advertising, and audience engagement platforms.
- Manage team including a mix of FTE and consultants providing direction and feedback.
- Lead consultants, data analysts and engineers to ensure accurate reporting, data visualization, and actionable insights.
- Partner with business operations, product, marketing, and editorial teams to drive data-informed decision-making.
- Support product and marketing to identify trends in top funnels from primary acquisition channel, through metered paywall conversion funnel to purchase.
- Develop real-time and predictive analytics capabilities to support content production and distribution strategy.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and best practices in ethical data usage.
- Identify and implement new technologies, tools, and methodologies to advance our analytics capabilities.
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Partner with the product and engineering teams on data layer creation and development of tracking strategy for product launch and feature updates.
- Support a brand new revenue generating company to identify key trends and opportunities in retention product and marketing strategies.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in data analytics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in media, publishing, or digital content.
- Expertise in analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Parse.ly, Amplitude, Chartbeat, or similar tools.
- Strong proficiency in BigQuery and SQL
- Practical experience with Python, R, or other data manipulation languages.
- Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI).
- Knowledge of audience segmentation, A/B testing, and predictive modeling.
- Familiarity with data privacy laws, compliance frameworks, and site consent strategy.
- Proven ability to translate complex data insights into clear, actionable business strategies.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
