What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender (Part-time) position at The Sanctuary on Penn?
Located near the main downtown library, we are in a beautiful old church that’s converted into an event hall. Every event is unique and lively, so every member of our team is integral to our operation! Our bartenders are no exception to this. We all depend on each other, so we function like a small family.
We are looking for someone to work almost every Saturday night with the occasional Friday and Sunday, depending on the season.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing the bar space to get ready for the night.
- Preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for patrons.
- Welcoming guests and making recommendations if requested.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the bar at the end of the night
- Wiping down bottles
- Stocking supplies
- Washing Glassware
- Preparing drinks for the serving staff to pass to the guests
- Stocking and restocking the bar from the downstairs fridge
Qualifications:
- No bartending experience is necessary (we’re looking for someone with a good attitude who is teachable!)
- Valid liquor license
- Must be able to walk up and down the stairs many times a night
- Must be able to be on your feet for 6-8 hours
General Information:
The start time is typically between 3:00 and 5:00 pm (depending on what time the event begins). Friday events tend to be a bit later, Sundays tend to be a bit earlier. End time is not guaranteed - we just go until the job is finished. Most shifts tend to end between 10:00 pm and midnight. We also provide meals for our employees after our guests are served, so you won't have to worry about running on an empty stomach the night of.
Pay is a flat rate of $11 an hour plus tips, with opportunities for raises every six months.
