We are seeking a passionate, reflective, and dynamic K-12 Literacy Coordinator who embodies these beliefs to support, inspire, and elevate literacy practices across all grade levels. This leader will work closely with teachers, administrators, and instructional coaches to develop a strong, cohesive system of literacy instruction aligned with best practices and state expectations.
The K–12 Literacy Coordinator serves as the instructional lead for district-wide literacy efforts. This role focuses on ensuring alignment, equity, and excellence in literacy instruction across all grade levels. The coordinator will lead professional development, support data-driven decisions, and foster collaborative partnerships to continuously improve teaching and learning aligned with state expectations, including Wisconsin Act 20.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Coordination
- Facilitate and lead the implementation of a comprehensive K-12 literacy continuum aligned with district goals and the Wisconsin Standards for English Language Arts.
- Serve as a literacy thought partner for staff and administration, helping to guide vision and action.
- Lead the coordination and implementation of Wisconsin Act 20, including professional development, data collection, and instructional coaching.
Professional Development & Coaching
- Design and deliver high-quality professional development focused on evidence-based literacy practices and universal instruction aligned to the Science of Reading and Visible Learning.
- Collaborate with building leaders and instructional coaches to support the development of school-wide and classroom-level literacy practices.
- Support ongoing development of educators’ instructional capacity through job-embedded coaching, modeling lessons, co-planning, and data-driven feedback cycles.
Collaboration & Support
- Partner with the 6–12 Literacy Coach to ensure alignment and coherence of literacy practices across secondary levels.
- Collaborate with district and school-level leadership teams to monitor literacy goals and student growth.
- Analyze and use literacy data to support informed instructional decision-making and equitable outcomes for all learners.
Required Qualifications
- Current Wisconsin DPI Reading License (Reading Teacher or Reading Specialist).
- Proven knowledge and application of effective literacy instruction K–12, including foundational skills, disciplinary literacy, and intervention practices.
- Strong understanding of adult learning theory and professional development delivery.
- Experience in instructional coaching, facilitation, and leadership in literacy development.
- Ability to build trusting relationships and lead through collaboration and influence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in coordinating or implementing state-level mandates such as Act 20.
- Familiarity with data-driven decision making and MTSS frameworks.
- Background in Visible Learning, Science of Reading, or structured literacy practices.
Terms of Employment:
Full-time, 10 month administrative support position
