Job Summary
Provides career and technical education instructional program in the service of Digital Communication. Provides an instructional program that focuses on the development, use and regulation of new electronic communication technologies using computer applications and that prepares individuals to function as developers and managers of digital communications media. Stays abreast of technological advances in the digital communication area and their impact on systems technological components, structures, materials and systems.
Essential Functions
- Assesses the instructional requirements of students and provides orientation and instruction in a digital communication career and technical education related competencies.
- Provides training in the proper use, care and storage of hand tools, and specialty tools and equipment related to the particular specialty; instructs students in all related safety procedures and protocols.
- Stays abreast of technological advances in the area of specialization.
- Monitors student progress and assesses their skills according to standardized measurements.
- Participates in the development of internships and apprenticeships for students enrolled in the digital communication program; ensures that students have a variety of school and work-based experiences; oversees students in a variety of job/school sites and in transit from one location to another.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of current full-time, paid experience in the digital communication industry,
OR
- Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth school grade
- Three years of full-time, paid field experience in the digital communication industry
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
o the digital communication industry.
o the modern methods, theories and practices in the digital communication industry. o the materials and techniques used in the digital communication industry.
o the occupational hazards and safety precautions related to the digital communication industry.
o the proper care and use of tools and instruments used in the digital communication industry.
o accepted digital communication procedures and operations.
Demonstrated ability to:
o use a personal computer and spreadsheets and word processing software applications.
o select and organize curriculum content and to apply appropriate instructional methods.
o implement assessment tools for effective student evaluations. o communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
o establish effective working relationships.
