Job Summary
Coordinates the Career Connected and Work-Based Learning Programs for all Career and Technical Education and Career Academies programs. Develops, implements and evaluates the programs and oversees the daily operations. Develops and builds partnerships with the local business community and in cooperation with school-based staff, manages the placement of students into individualized work experiences which are productive for the student, employer and school. Ensures experience is specific to the student’s occupational objectives and aligned with the respective competency list. Participates in employer and job development and maintains employer relations. Promotes the program and delivers training sessions.
Essential Functions
- Creates the framework for district-wide Career-Connected and Work-based learning programs.
- Coordinates, plans and develops the activities and services of the Career-Connected and Work-based learning programs.
- Provides on-going training for faculty coordinators, administrators and staff.
- Serves as a liaison between students, teachers, administrators and employers regarding administrative and operating requirements for the program.
- Functions as the primary contact for employers; works with CTE school-based and central office staff to recruit employers, organize and promote student employment opportunities and conduct site visits.
- Contacts and maintains a working relationship with business and industry to ascertain their employment and training needs; provides information about the program and work experience training procedures to the work site supervisors.
- Prepares training agreements and ensures that they are in compliance with federal, state and District work experience guidelines; ensures that students’ needs are being met through the placement process.
- Coordinates with CTE school-based and central office staff, to review workplace expectations, etiquette, protocol and procedures; prepare students for worksite interviews; provides employment counseling for students; discusses any problems encountered and provides advice on how to handle given situations.
- Coordinates with CTE school-based and central office staff to maintain records of student’s work experience agreement, training plan, employer rating sheets, wage and hour records (if applicable) and information obtained from worksite visits; tracks the activities, achievements, participation, progress and status of individual students; offers technical assistance when needed. manages placement of students in internships.
- Collects data for analysis, evaluation and program improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university.
Certificates//Licenses
- Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Certificate to teach Cooperative Education.
OR
- Enroll and continually matriculate in a PDE approved Cooperative Education Certificate program certificate and obtain the certificate within 3 years of hire.
