Under the supervision of the Roving Crew Leader, perform housekeeping activities district-wide as a General Cleaner on a mobile cleaning team. Works to ensure buildings are welcoming environments for students and staff. Works to ensure completion of all assignments, safe work practices of all team members, communication to school administrators and Facilities Management. Assists with maintaining inventory of supplies and perform preventive maintenance on assigned custodial equipment.

The below outlines manual housekeeping and custodial work. Employees in this class perform general cleaning tasks to maintain school facilities or office buildings. Work involves performing such tasks as buffing and polishing floors and cleaning and shampooing carpets.

Essential Functions
- Mops and sweeps floors, stairways and fire escapes; oil mops floors; removes gum from surfaces; buffs and polishes floors using rotary machines; cleans and shampoos carpets using such equipment as a vacuum cleaner, foam shampooer or carpet extractor; applies floor finish when required.
- Dusts and polishes furniture; dusts and cleans outside fresh air louvers, heating vents, wall trim and locker tops; dust mops all other horizontal and vertical surfaces.
- Scrubs and washes walls, windowsills, partitions and railings; polishes brass and cleans glass; washes chalkboards and rails; cleans water fountains and coolers; secures windows, cleans, washes and adjusts shades, empties wastebaskets and pencil sharpeners.
- Cleans auditoriums and cafeterias after the final lunch; washes and rinses garbage cans in cafeterias and lunchrooms; cleans classrooms, school shops and multipurpose rooms; removes or paints over graffiti found in the ulterior of the building where necessary.

- Cleans and scrubs lavatories and shower rooms; disinfects floors, walls and toilet bowls; polishes fixtures and mirrors; replenishes lavatory supplies such as toilet tissue, towels and soap.
- No ladders higher than 8 ft. will be used in the performance of this job.
- Maintains janitorial service areas and cleaning equipment.
- Reports all broken, leaking and non-operating fixtures to supervisor.
- Reports all maintenance problems.
- Performs general cleaning tasks inside the building.
