As a member of the Executive Committee of The Seagate, The Director of Sales is responsible for the overall strategy of The Seagate’s leisure, business travel and group segments.
This role is responsible for establishing sales policies, objectives, and initiatives including securing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, supervising sales activities and executing sales strategies to maximize the profitability of the hotel while maintaining customer satisfaction. In addition, this role will develop and implement a strategic action plan aimed at increasing the visibility of The Seagate within the target demographic.
Position Summary
The Director of Sales is responsible for driving the growth of group, business travel and leisure sales revenue targets for The Seagate. The primary functions of this role are to:
- Identify and target customers that will generate business on behalf of hotel.
- Negotiate, draft, generate and confirm/sign contracts that ensure hotel budget and revenue targets are achieved.
- Adjust pricing and recommend group concessions as needed to secure business in support of hotel budget targets.
- Utilize Various Prospecting Resources to solicit and secure business on behalf of hotel.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual revenue and direct sales goals including outside sales calls, prospecting calls, site inspections, and entertainment as outlined.
- Establish top-line revenue targets and develop processes to reach those goals through efficient sales operations
- Establish and maintain strong Delphi hygiene including account creation, account traces, contact information, client email lists, bookings, etc.
- Understand and maximize the utilization of all automated sales and reservations systems involved with corporate or travel industry business.
- Lead sales meetings and pipeline meetings as required while actively participating in the weekly revenue strategy meetings.
- Produce pre and post travel trip reports to analyze lead capture and customer acquisition.
- Provide management and leadership expertise to coordinate sales efforts and ensure sales managers attain sales booking goals
- Monitor performance of Sales Manager and coach and council towards success; offer support and help to assist in closing of business
- Develop and maintain a position of community leadership and foster professional relationships to build visibility by attending chamber, social and charitable events, trade shows and meetings to promote the properties and maintain good relationships with area businesses and organizations
- Skilled at both monthly forecasting and the annual budget process in order to submit monthly/quarterly/annual reports to the Managing Director, revenue team and corporate team
- Travel to tradeshows relevant to the property’s focus in both leisure and group segments. Represent the Lake House when appropriate.
Other Responsibilities:
- Interview, recommend hiring, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, resolve problems, provide open communication, recommend, and conduct performance and salary reviews, recommend discipline and termination, as appropriate.
- Conduct property tours and entertain qualified potential clients in accordance with the Company and property policies.
- Monitor all correspondence to ensure it meets with corporate policy and procedures.
- Undertake responsibility assigned by the Managing Director with information required for monthly asset report to owners.
Working Conditions:
- Work long hours when necessary and flexible with schedule. Be able to work weekends, nights, holidays as necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Job duties require this individual to regularly stand, walk, speak, and listen.
- Job duties regularly require individual to move and/or lift up to 50 lbs.
Position Requirements:
- 5-7 years of experience in hospitality industry; preferably in high volume luxury properties.
- Comfortable with site inspections and client presentations including outbound travel 3-5 times per quarter.
- Strong planning and organizing skills to consistently meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft software programs and Delphi.
- Bachelor’s degree Hotel and Restaurant Management and/or related field preferred, or equivalent related job experience
