Primary Objective: Responsible for the purchase of goods and services covering a variety of products and commodities in the ballpark. This job will also focus on IT procurement, working directly with IT team to
procure specified commodity per their direction and specifications. Duties involve strategic sourcing thru competitive proposals and bids, and extensive interaction and negotiation with suppliers to develop and
maintain relationships and ensure best procurement practices.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and utilize measurable criteria for analysis of supplier selection process, producing highly qualified suppliers meeting quality standards, cost effectiveness, and dependability of service and warranties for the Seattle Mariners organization.
- Responsible for all IT purchases including Capital, Construction & Planning projects. Will get direction on specific products and implementation from IT end users.
- Skillfully negotiate purchasing agreements with suppliers, covering pricing issues, quality of goods, services and warranties, and terms of agreement. Monitor adherence and compliance of all such agreements.
- Track all shipments to ensure product arrives within the negotiated timeline.
- Develop and implement problem solving methods to produce win/win partnerships and relationships, both internally and with outside suppliers.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with all levels of internal personnel and outside suppliers, both verbally and in writing, utilizing a pro-active approach.
- Implement resourceful methods of sourcing a variety of commodities and services.
- Develop, implement, and monitor a diverse vendor base, educating other Mariners' departments on the MLB's commitment to Diversity Initiatives, working closely with each to ensure success. Responsible for vendor development and maintenance.
- Independently develop, evaluate and award bids for purchase of goods or services, consistent with the established policies of the department and the organization.
- Initiate purchase orders, utilizing a computerized purchasing system.
- Analyze competitive bids. Initiate tracking, follow-up and expediting of orders.
- May be requested to take the lead in project management if the need arises.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, facility management, or related field required. Equivalent, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education if approved by management.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Procurement/ Buying.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access and computerized purchasing systems, with emphasis on producing tracking reports and documentation on spreadsheets disseminated to internal departments.

The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $85,000.00-$105,000.00 annually.
All perks are subject to eligibility requirements and availability and may be modified or amended from time to time.
