Job Title: Video/Audio Technician
Department: Technology Services
Reports To: Director, Broadcast Operations and Engineering
Status: Seasonal, Nonexempt
Primary Objective: To assist in the setup, maintenance, and operation of video and audio equipment for the Seattle Mariners Baseball Club, ensuring high-quality broadcast and in-stadium presentation.
Essential Functions
  • Assist Video Engineer and Audio Engineer as required, providing support during live events and ensuring smooth operation of all audio-visual systems.
  • Assist with video and audio setups, including configuring and testing microphones, cameras, monitors, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform regular maintenance and operation of equipment during events, addressing any technical issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
  • Assist in testing and control of audio/video systems, conducting routine checks and troubleshooting to ensure consistent quality and functionality.
  • Maintain scoreboards and TVs throughout the ballpark, ensuring they are operational and displaying accurate information.
  • Assist with the implementation of new equipment, collaborating with team members to integrate new technology seamlessly into existing systems.
Education and Experience
  • SBE certification required (CBT).
  • Minimum of 2 years of trade school in Electronics and/or Broadcast Communications.
  • Basic electronic knowledge.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented.
  • Knowledge of audio/video signal flow.
  • Basic understanding of television broadcast industry rules and procedures.
  • Ability to problem-solve independently and work with minimal supervision if necessary.
  • Shares and expresses thoughts in a clear and effective manner through verbal and written communication skills. Exhibits effective listening skills and builds positive relationships with all team members, vendors, and guests. Is diplomatic, tactful, and professional in all forms of communication.

Physical Activities and Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Outdoor work environment, subject to fluctuation in temperatures, exposure to the sun and elements.
  • Must be able to work afternoon, evening and night games and events, prior to opening of facility to the public and through closing of the facility.
  • Stand for the duration of baseball game or event at assigned area.
  • Walk up and down aisles, escalators and/or stairs in assigned area.
  • Must be able to lift, stoop, squat, push, stand and/or bend throughout assigned shift to assist guests with various requests and/or needs.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk on concrete stairwells, ramps, and concourses for the duration of baseball game or event.
  • Must be able to walk up and down steep stairs and maintain balance while assisting guests.
  • Must have functional near vision.
  • Must have functional manual dexterity.

The anticipated pay for this role is $25.00 per hour, depending on the shift worked.
