Job Title: Workday Adaptive Senior Financial Systems Analyst
Department: Finance
Reports To: Vice President, Finance
Status: Exempt
Primary Objective: The Seattle Mariners have worked in Adaptive Planning for over 5 years and are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to further enhance capabilities within the system. The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining advanced models and reports within Workday Adaptive Planning, empowering strategic decision-making and driving operational user efficiency. The Senior Analyst will be expected to understand financial reporting, KPI tracking, budgeting and forecasting processes, back-end modeling and reporting within Workday Adaptive Planning, and must partner collaboratively with the Finance Team to work with Adaptive end-users across the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Advanced Planning Model Development: Collaborate with Finance and other departments to gather requirements for new or existing planning models, including the use of various modeled and cubed sheets, dimensions, and attributes. Design, develop, and implement Adaptive Planning solutions to meet evolving business needs, including building complex models and formulas to support financial planning. Establish best practices for model development and maintenance, ensuring version control, data integrity, consistency, and efficiency.
- Advanced Report Development: Collaborate with Finance and other departments to gather requirements for reporting. Design, develop, and maintain reports within Workday Adaptive Planning, using advanced features such as custom web reporting, dashboards, and Office Connect. Work collaboratively with the Finance Team to meet the specific needs of Adaptive end-users, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and ease of use. Establish best practices for report development, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and efficiency.
- Data Visualization & Storytelling: Transform complex financial information into clear, concise, and impactful visualizations, effectively communicating key insights and driving data-informed decisions across various levels of the organization.
- Financial Literacy & Business Acumen: Understand the components of the business planning and budgeting process (1-3 year forecasts), with a deep understanding of how models, accounts, dimensions, assumptions, and formulas build up and impact the key financial reporting elements on the statement of operations, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows.
- Strategic and Proactive Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Adaptive end-users across the organization to understand their forecasting and reporting needs, proactively identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver value-added insights that directly impact future decision making. Troubleshoot modeling and reporting issues, providing timely and effective solutions. Proactively communicate project status and have the ability to multi-task, managing multiple priorities.
- User Support and System Enhancement: Transform and enhance the Adaptive end-user experience by providing comprehensive training and support to end-users, fostering user adoption and maximizing system utilization. Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate models, reports, and dashboards.
- Adaptive Planning Administration: Manage the administration and maintenance of the Adaptive Planning platform, including user management, security, and system configuration.
- Continuous Learning & Development: Proactively seek insight into new Workday Adaptive features, releases, and best practices to continuously seeking opportunities to enhance current features and user experience.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or Business Administration.
- A minimum of five (5) years of extensive experience with Workday Adaptive Planning, including advanced budget and forecast modeling, advanced report development, data visualization, and user-experience optimization.
- Workday and/or Adaptive certification, preferred.

Salary : $90,000 - $115,000
