What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audio Visual Technician position at The Second Church in Newton?
The Audio/Visual Technician will livestream the Sunday morning worship service and support other A/V efforts of the church’s life. This part-time role is 3 hours on a Sunday morning (generally 9-12) but sometimes increases to 5 hours for events afterwards.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee audio-visual hardware and software for use in weekly worship service on Sunday mornings.
- Manage and run the in-house A/V system and livestream software on OBS platform.
- Set up mics, run cables, adjust balances, fix issues of feedback, etc.
- Produce additional video content for services and other events, as needed.
- Set up portable sound system in Fellowship Hall, run Zoom for occasional meetings
- Collaborates with the Worship Team of Minister, Music Director, and others who are putting together Sunday mornings. Stay in close contact with the other A/V folks. This role may evolve to include assisting others with other communication technology needs.
On-site & Online Work Expectations: Almost all this work is expected to be on-site at the church in West Newton.
- Sunday worship services, from 9am to 12 noon, includes time to set up (9-10), the worship service (10-11), and time to pack up and put away AV equipment (11-12).
- Additional hours could be remote at other times, if approved by Minister or Operations Manager, for additional technology related projects (e.g. editing videos in YouTube, creating social media promos, recording special messages).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The Audio-Visual Technician shall have the following knowledge and skills:
- Experience with audio hardware, its use, and care, including setting up and adjusting microphones
- Have experience with video streaming using OBS platform. Training is available after which the technician would have sole responsibility.
- Experience with operating video cameras and adjusting lighting
- Excellent people skills, compassion, and an ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team; adapting to unexpected situations that may arise; interacting with other constituencies as necessary.
- Reliability, timely communication, critical thinking and being proactive in problem solving,
professionalism, adaptability, senses of humor.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
