Required Technical Skills
- 4 years of Network Installation or Equipment testing experience, either in the field or lab environment
- Proficient knowledge of Coax, Fiber, Optic, and/or Ethernet cables
- Proficient knowledge of RF test equipment (Keysight, Rhode &Schwartz, etc.)
- Proficient knowledge of related industry specifications and standards (SCTE, ANSI, IEEE, etc.)
- Proficient knowledge with Amplifiers and/or line extenders
- Eager to learn and expand skills beyond installations.
- Strong communication skills, open to feedback.
- Collaborative personality who works well across teams.
- Experience with ISP (Inside Plant) or OSP (Outside Plant).
- Optics experience.
- Knowledge of power transmission (AC/DC), egress leakage, RFI, and channel noise.
- Experience with S-parameters, BER, or MER.
- Knowledge of CATV devices and outside plant network design.
- Test all equipment installed outside of customers' homes and connected to the Network.
- Procure outside vendors to test OSP hardware in the lab on a weekly rotation, ensuring durability and reliability before field deployment.
- Test and certify OSP equipment and some ISP equipment, including:
- Taps (devices for branching signals from a main line)
- Pedestals (enclosures for networking equipment)
- Nodes (signal distribution points)
- Amplifiers (devices to boost signal strength)
- Additional components like splinters, connectors, coaxial cables, and fiber optics.
- Ensure all equipment meets industry standards before deployment in the network.
- Assist with planning, forecasting, and evaluating products submitted for qualification.
- Follow test methods and processes developed by Principal Engineers.
- Coordinate testing with other teams and track documentation for assigned projects.
- Support efforts to enhance the customer experience through consistent improvement.
- Participate in planning and engineering of lab enhancements.
- Integrate communication industry architectures and topologies into complete network configurations.
- Evaluate new products and recommend improvements.
- Assist in developing and documenting technical standards.
- Work on projects involving CATV planning, configuration, and optimization.
- Adhere to applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies.
- Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
