What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Development position at The Servant Center?
The Director will lead The Servant Center’s development efforts, marketing strategies and volunteer program. The primary purpose of this job will be to solicit financial donations for operating and capital budgets, including major gifts; as well as increasing the agency’s donor base. The Director will oversee the volunteer program and the creation of marketing materials and maintain an online presence through the website and social media.
About the Agency:
The Servant Center’s mission is to empower the homeless and disabled to become independent, contributing members of our community through housing, healthcare, and restorative services. The Servant Center is in the mists of significant growth and will be moving into new facility in 2025.
Essential Functions:
Develop and carry out annual and capital fundraising plan(s)
· Network with corporations, community partners, organizations, churches and volunteer groups for building donor base, advocacy, and funding opportunities
· Public speaking for planned events, media coverage, social events.
· Manage annual mailings
· Manage and organize fundraisers: This includes 3rd party events such as golf tournaments and walk/run events
· Update and maintain donor management database
· Write thank you notes to donors (both financial and in-kind donations)
· Work closely with the Executive Director and board members to identify and secure donors
· Must have a working relationship with board members
Marketing and community relations
· Update and carry out yearly marketing plan, on all media platforms
· Update and manage The Servant Center’s website (WIX) and media contact (Buffer)
· Foster relationships with community organizations, civic groups, businesses, etc.
· Oversee United Way Employee Campaign
· Oversee the Volunteer program including policies and procedures, project planning and communication with other staff regarding needs.
Qualifications:
· A bachelor’s degree in related field with at least two years of successful fundraising/sales experience
· Familiarity and proficiency with Office Suite
· Ability to work outside of the office without supervision
· Experience working with funders in Guilford County is preferred
· Familiarity with Neon is a plus.
Working Conditions:
· Generally, work in an office environment but will also be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting including:
o Attending events outside of the office to network
o Coordinating outdoor fundraisers or other activities
o Attending training related to his/her job outside of the office
· Dress code is business casual unless otherwise noted
· The worker may occasionally need to work in the evening or on weekends for special events, networking opportunities or to coordinate volunteer activities
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to occasionally stand or walk
· Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally
· The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
· Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer, and printer

Pay: $55,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
