We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic part-time Redirection Logistics Associate / Administrative Assistant to support and expand our waste reduction efforts. This newly created position will focus on developing and managing logistics for fabric scrap and sewing machine donations. The ideal candidate will cultivate relationships with existing partners, such as mattress companies, industrial textile companies, and secondary apparel markets, while educating volunteers and community members about sustainable practices. This role is crucial in increasing awareness of TSL’s waste reduction initiatives and encouraging broader community participation.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Coordination:
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for fabric scrap and sewing machine donation projects.
- Organize and oversee volunteer activities, ensuring they align with TSL’s waste reduction goals.
- Maintain a database of volunteers, tracking their participation and hours.
Donation Management:
- Develop and manage logistics for receiving and processing fabric scrap and sewing machine donations.
- Collaborate with existing partners and establish new relationships with businesses and organizations involved in textile and apparel industries.
- Coordinate the distribution of repurposed sewing machines and materials to students and community members.
Community Outreach and Education:
- Educate volunteers and community members about sustainable ways to reuse and upcycle clothing and fabrics.
- Create and distribute educational materials and resources on waste reduction and sustainable sewing practices.
- Promote TSL’s waste reduction efforts through social media, community events, and other outreach activities.
Administrative Support:
- Provide general administrative support to TSL staff and programs.
- Assist with scheduling, communications, and documentation related to waste reduction initiatives.
- Manage records and reports on donation and volunteer activities.
Working Conditions
- Part-time position with flexible hours.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for events and volunteer activities.
- Combination of office work and hands-on activities in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Qualifications
- Passion for sustainability, waste reduction, and community education.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse group of volunteers and partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with database management.
- Experience in volunteer coordination, nonprofit work, or related fields is a plus.
- Knowledge of sewing and textile repurposing is beneficial but not required.
