Overview
The Victim Advocate plays a crucial role in supporting individuals who have experienced trauma or victimization. This position involves providing emotional support, guidance, and resources to victims while ensuring their rights are upheld throughout the legal process. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in behavioral health, social work, or related fields and demonstrate a commitment to helping vulnerable populations.

Duties

  • Provide emotional support and crisis intervention to victims of crime and trauma.
  • Assist clients in navigating the legal system and understanding their rights.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community resources to facilitate access to services such as counseling, housing, and healthcare.
  • Conduct assessments to identify the needs of clients and create personalized action plans.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, child protective services, and other agencies to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
  • Facilitate support groups and educational workshops for victims and their families.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and case progress in compliance with confidentiality standards.
  • Advocate for policy changes that benefit victims' rights and services within the community.
  • Assist with after hours on-call duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • Experience in behavioral health, child welfare, family law, or crisis management is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of conflict management techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Familiarity with child protective services and resources available for children and families is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to empathize with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders including law enforcement, social service agencies, and healthcare providers.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation processes.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in areas related to victim advocacy.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
