Middle School Counselor
10-12 Hours/Week

Position Summary
The School Counselor (SC) plays an integral part in the Middle School Program, providing students with individual and group support regarding, but not limited to, the critical issues of bullying/harassment, anger management, school avoidance, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, or stress.
This is a part-time position for the school year (including potential consultation or crisis support during evenings, weekends, and vacations) The SC will be working with a larger team of service providers both in the school and the community to develop a working network of resources for students and their families.
Counseling/Support Services, Grades 7-8
Individual Interventions and ongoing counseling with students
Brief or long-term interventions with teachers, parents, peers
Weekly meetings or “check-ins” with students struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, challenging family situations, academic stress etc.
Parent and family communication and support
Psychologist/psychiatrist referrals and phone communication.
Essential Skills and Experience
A minimum of two years of experience in delivery of services to youth in camps, team sports, outdoor education programs, music, drama, arts or the classroom are suggested.
A minimum of a college Bachelors’ degree
Confidentiality is a must.
