Summary:
The Ironworker Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of ironworkers on construction sites to ensure that structural steel and metal work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct ironworker crews in assembling, installing, and reinforcing steel structures, beams, and other metal components.
- Ensure compliance with blueprints, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate workflow and assign tasks to ironworkers to meet project deadlines.
- Inspect and verify completed work for quality and adherence to plans.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trade professionals to maintain efficient job site operations.
- Conduct safety meetings, enforce company policies, and ensure that all workers comply with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Train and mentor ironworkers, providing guidance and support to improve performance and skills.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, labor hours, materials used, and any job site incidents.
- Troubleshoot and resolve job site challenges, ensuring smooth project execution.
- Operate and oversee the use of hoisting equipment, welding tools, and other machinery as required.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel erection, rigging, welding, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and other relevant safety regulations.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment related to ironworking.
- Valid certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, rigging, welding, first aid/CPR) preferred.
