The Cost Controls Specialist is primarily responsible for the proper setup, population, and maintenance of cost control systems necessary to monitor, control, and report on project performance, data gathering and analysis of project KPI's.
Responsibilities
- Establish and manage cost reporting, forecasting systems, and ensure alignment with project schedules.
- Provide corrective action support and trend analysis for project teams.
- Interpret contract details to guide cost control deliverables and methods.
- Apply expertise in material control, estimating, planning, scheduling, and project accounting.
- Utilize cost control tools effectively to analyze and report on cost trends, quantities, and progress.
- Develop comprehensive cost forecasts at project completion, incorporating internal and external changes.
- Conduct forward-looking analyses, including Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) using various Estimate-to-Complete (ETC) methods.
- Prepare and present cost/quantity analyses and recommendations, including internal and client-facing reports.
- Ensure accurate allocation of data by auditing unusual cost records and maintaining compliance with performance baselines.
- Support procurement actions and accruals management for project managers.
- Align project estimates with schedules, tracking deviations and assisting in corrective actions.
- Interface with business systems (e.g., InEight Suite, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring effective time management and goal achievement.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Economics or related degree. *Experience will be evaluated in lieu of bachelor’s degree
- 1-3 years’ experience working in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction industry
