What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort?
Company information: Historic resort on the Delaware River. Our vision is to create unique experiences for our guests that they cannot get anywhere else. This includes our dining facilities. We brew our own beer, grow some of our own produce, and focus on engaging exceptional service.
Description of role: If you are a student, need a second job, or are looking for part-time fulfilling work, we're looking for motivated servers to join our team. Our restaurant is located off the lobby of the historic resort. It is a mid-scale, independent restaurant and services guests of the resort and some locals. Our servers work shifts (typically 6 hours), which allows you to schedule your shifts around school/studying obligations. In return, we ask you to arrive on time, always smile for our guests, learn about what is unique about our property and engage with the guests about these aspects. To excel in this position, you need a high level of guest service skills and a willingness to meet their needs quickly and politely.
Tasks:
- Take and process guests' orders in a timely fashion
- Learn about menu entrees, sauces, sides, portions to assist guests in making decisions.
- Learn about ShawneeCraft Brewery, tour times, beers on tap, and their philosophy.
- Learn about Shawnee Island Farm, what menu items may use this produce, and what items are coming out of the farm.
- Memorize drink and dessert menu for on-demand recitation
- Up-sell desserts, appetizers, and drinks as appropriate for individual guests and parties
- Manage large groups quickly and efficiently through attentive service and precise order taking
- Maintain a positive dining atmosphere and handle guest complaints/requests quickly.
- Perform side-work that assists in creating an exceptional dining experience.
Skills and requirements:
- Server experience preferred
- Excellent guest service and hospitality skills
- Comfort with computer programs
- Neat, well-groomed appearance with no visible tattoos
- Ability to work well under intense time pressure
- Excellent emotional control in fast-paced environments
- Dedication to on-time arrival for shifts
Work schedule: Flexible based on availability. The restaurant closes at 9:00 pm weekdays and 10:00 pm weekends. Shifts can begin at 4:00 pm, 5:00 pm, or earlier.
