As a Laboratory Technician for Glass Coatings & Concepts, you will have an opportunity to use your attention to detail and a sharp eye for color to accomplish many tasks and help drive projects to completion, while working with a unique product in a creative environment.
Glass Coatings and Concepts (GCC) is the premier supplier of ceramic glass enamels for spandrel and decorative glass in the architectural building industry. Located in Monroe, Ohio, we are part of the Shepherd Material Science group, a family-owned multi-national manufacturer of specialty performance products.
GCC develops and manufactures proprietary glass frits, mediums and inorganic pigments that are found in many facades and products you see every day Our success has been built upon the fundamental belief that promoting people of exemplary character, doing quality work, and offering customized products enhance people's lives.
We are seeking a motivated professional to make, process, and characterize glasses and the glass enamels made from them. You will participate in and support the development and commercialization of custom glass frits, digital printing and glass/ceramic enamels. We need your thoughtful care, and attention to detail to sustain profitable growth while brightening the lives of our customers. You will work closely with our Glass/Materials Scientists, Mediums/Coatings Chemists, Production, Quality Control, and Technical Support personnel to ensure the best solution is developed and presented.

Proposed working hours for this position would be Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm.
Note: Assessments are required for this role, including a color identification assessment to ensure minimum performance standards are met.
Hourly Pay: $25.75 - $31.05/hour, based on relevant experience.
Job responsibilities

- Troubleshoot and solve problems
- Support the development and commercialization of new glasses and glass frits.
- Support the formulation of new mediums, glass enamels and ink products and the improvement of existing ones.
- Support Production, Quality Assurance/Control, and Technical Support when needed.
- Prepare, analyze and characterize samples.
- Operate and maintain instrumentation used in characterization.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment including roll coaters, roller kilns and box furnaces, 3-roll mills and speed mixers.
Education Requirements
- Associate degree chemistry, physics, or an applicable science area preferred
- Minimum of one year of general laboratory experience preferred.
Required Skills
- Exhibit strong verbal and writing skills.
- Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Able and willing to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Self-directed and motivated.
- Digital printing experience
