Position: Bartender

Oversees: Bar area and beverage service to guests

Job Classification: Non-exempt; hourly; full or part-time

Position Summary:

The Shoals Bartenders have the responsibility of providing quality beverage items for sale and service, to property guests. Bartenders must serve quality beverage items in a quick, consistent manner while maintaining elevated levels of guest satisfaction. Bartenders are also responsible for keeping work service areas clean and safe, as well as equipment and upholding all applicable laws and standards. Must maintain the bar areas friendly and relaxing for guests.

Position Essential Job Responsibilities:

· Maintains a welcoming presence in bar area, immediately acknowledging guests, requests, and questions.

· Observes the company’s “10-4” rule for all guests (Within 10 feet of physical proximity to a guest, make eye contact and acknowledge their presence by nodding and smiling. Within 4 feet of physical proximity to a guest, verbally acknowledge them, this can be by simply saying “Hello, how are you today?”, or “Hi, welcome what tasty beverage can I create for you today?”.

· Neat and clean in appearance, wears proper uniform, name/ID badge, correct department footwear (non-skid), and a smile.

· Prepares beverages for sale that abides by all Federal, State, Local and Health Department standards.

· Follows all standard operating procedures for beverage service including proper pour levels and recipes.

· Strictly adheres to The Sholes directives on the service or sale of alcoholic beverages to intoxicated guests and follows the proper procedures for refusing service or shutting a guest off.

· Strictly follows all policies and procedures related to asking for ID and carding all guests.

· Strictly follows all procedures and directives for the consumption of alcoholic beverages throughout the property.

· Serves beverage items that are of high quality, tasteful and appealing to the guest eye.

· Handles credit transactions for beverage purchases and reconciles all end-of-the-day reports and revenue reports, as necessary.

· Takes inventory of items for sale, keeps the proper forms and logs.

· Keeps accurate records of all comps and waste, keeps the proper logs.

· Ensures all job tools and equipment are well maintained, used per safety standards, and properly secured.

· Ensures cleaning supplies and chemicals are used properly and all bottles are properly labeled per company chemical policy. Follows proper glass and dishwashing procedures.

· Completes all necessary checklist and logs related to cleanliness and safety of bar area.

· Takes ownership of guest issues or complaints, follows through to ensure resolution and 100% satisfaction, even if it not something they can handle directly.

· Practices excellent communication skills, shares information to other shifts and to management through use of the daily logbook or other approved channels.

· Provides security by reporting suspicious activities.

· Reports all incidents, safety concerns or guest issues to MOD or General Manager readily, and through the appropriate channels to ensure maximum guest safety at all times.

· Has thorough understanding of all emergency plans, safety and operating procedures/standards-especially regarding handling guests and maintaining service in the event that an emergency or other issue arises. Follows procedure and reports all incidents or injuries to supervisor immediately.

· Provides input and ideas on the entire F&B operation and takes part in training initiatives and skill development to provide feedback to improve the department.

· Completes any other task as requested by a supervisor, including the training new associates.

Position Specific Requirements- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Must be 21 years of age, with at least 1 year’s bartending experience, preferred.

· Have or be able to obtain approved service training certification for responsible alcohol service.

· Must pass any (POS) related training or competency training.

· Attend all department meetings and or training as needed.

· Basic math and POS system skills, or ability to learn what is needed to operate effectively.

Performance Measurement:

Superior performance for the Bartenders at The Shoals is measured by the level of guest service, cleanliness and atmosphere provided for our guests. Bartenders are also held accountable for keeping correct inventory, meeting sales and upselling goals and the overall profitability of the outlet.

Physical, Schedule and Work Requirements:

· Must be 21 years of age, or older.

· Must have the availability to work all shifts, during normal operating hours

· Must work weekends and holidays as needed, with minimal requests for extended periods of time off. Any prior commitments must be discussed before start date.

· Must be able to stand for extended periods. Ability to bend, kneel, reach, push and pull while performing job tasks. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or greater.
