Base hourly rate starts at $17.50. Earn $45 per hour while conducting personal training sessions.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Seeking enthusiastic responsible Personal Trainer to plan and lead a range of individualized or group exercise/activity sessions for clients. They perform a variety of fitness programs that are both educational and motivational and provide guidance on ways to support healthy lifestyles and healthy lifestyle changes. The Personal Trainer also provides customer service which promotes member wellness and creates a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment. Increase member retention through member engagement, guidance and support. Must be able to work varied shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop, implement, and instruct a variety of personal training and group training sessions for clients at an appropriate level and in the appropriate modality based on clients wants, needs, and ability.
- Provide encouragement and expertise for the client in support of their health and well-being goals.
- Administer, track, and evaluate health history questionnaires, fitness assessments, and other pre-participation documentation with regard to individual exercise programs.
- Educates members in proper use of equipment.
- Provides a cohesive approach to customer service and training that directly impacts the participant’s commitment and personal growth.
- Promote and sell personal training programs and services.
- Maintain required CECs and national certifications.
- Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions.
- Builds rapport and relates well to others. Seeks first to understand the other person’s point of view, and remains calm in challenging situations.
- Listens for understanding and meaning; speaks and writes effectively.
- Makes sound judgments, and transfers learning from one situation to another.
- Responsible for refraining from writing diets, prescribing supplements or diagnosing/curing any type of injury or illness; always referring members to a doctor when needed health or well-being is questioned.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The ability to conduct actives relating to fitness. Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years’ old
- Degree in health and science or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in the health and fitness field.
- Personal Trainer Certification through a nationally accredited organization including, but not limited to NETA, NASM, ACE, ACSM, AEA. Must hold an Aqua Specialty Certification if personal training is to be done in the pool.
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, YMCA Strength & Conditioning
- Formal training in the specialty class being taught and/or ability to demonstrate the movements and exercises.
- Demonstrates customer services skills and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates ability to lead an individual/group and motivate others to achieve their health and wellbeing goals.
- Demonstrates ability working with a variety of age groups and ability levels.
- Multi-task-oriented and strong communication skills
- Have excellent time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Possess ability to make independent and sound decisions in a changing environment
- Detail oriented and exhibit a high degree of accuracy and alertness
- Work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently with assigned goals, duties and deadlines
- Ability to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality
- Present a neat and professional appearance at all times
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
