Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

 The Engineering Tech 1 performs a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of our architectural assets, including buildings, facilities, grounds, equipment, safety-related concerns, and ancillary infrastructure.  The Engineering Tech 1 is responsible for performing duties and technical tasks related to facility maintenance.  This position requires a highly skilled incumbent with diverse experience, training, job-related education,  and knowledge to ensure seamless operations and uphold the highest standards of excellence within our physical environment. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance activity, including work orders, inspections, repairs, and equipment servicing.
  • Supports the Engineering Tech 2 in performing a broad range of duties related to preventative maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of all mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and locking equipment including boilers, commercial refrigeration units, commercial air handlers, and HVAC systems, central plant equipment, pumps, generators, air compressors, kitchen equipment, and bar equipment. 
  • Performs all scheduled maintenance projects, including but not limited to replacement of HVAC filters; lubrication of pumps, motors, bearings, and other mechanical parts; lighting replacement/repair; etc.
  • Diagnoses and repairs issues with building systems, equipment, and fixtures to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conducts routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Assist with developing and providing preventative maintenance measures to prolong the lifespan of equipment and systems as directed by management. 
  • Ensures that all equipment and work areas are kept clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Perform repairs/troubleshooting on ladders, lifts, and on catwalks 50 feet in the air as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with building codes, safety regulations, environmental and industry standards.
  • Adheres to the organization’s safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines, while minimizing risks and ensuring the safety of staff, performers, and guests.
  • Responds promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, including after-hours incidents, to address issues and minimize disruptions to the operations. 
  • Maintains a readiness to address urgent repairs and ensures the safety and security of the facilities. 
  • Keeps abreast of industry standards, trends, and advancements in facility maintenance and engineering technologies. 
  • Assists with the coordination and execution of facility improvement projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

 Required Education, and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Three or more years of experience in the Hospitality and Service industry working as a facility engineer. 
  • Fire Life Safety experience including, troubleshooting and responding to fire panels, addressable smoke detectors, monitor modules, flow switches, jockey pumps, and fire pumps.
  • HVAC & Refrigeration experience troubleshooting commercial air handlers, VAVs, fan coil units; variable split systems; central plant equipment; pumps; cooling towers; walk-ins; reach-ins; ice machines; etc.
  • Electrical experience including trouble shooting high and low voltage circuits 277-120vac; timers; contactors; breaker panels; etc.
  • Plumbing experience working with clearing drains; soldering pipe; replacing drain lines; replace/repair fixtures
  • Basic Finish Carpentry experience.
  • Basic Masonry, Tilework & Painting experience. 
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, equipment, and maintenance best practices.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems, often with a high level of urgency due to time sensitivity and/or mission-critical level of importance.
  • Proficiency in operating related hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with building systems and equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is required; other languages such as Spanish are preferred.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. 
  • Successful completion of a required background check and pre-employment drug screening, as this position has been identified as a safety and security-sensitive position, directly impacting the safety of others. 

 Computer Skills

  • Strong computer knowledge to be able to navigate our building control system.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to use word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and internet applications.
  • Basic use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Ability to regularly lift, move, carry, push, and pull up to 75lbs or more.
  • Ability to bend at the waist and to lift items overhead.
  • This position will require sitting for long periods, standing, bending, and walking, as well as using fine motor skills, such as finger dexterity for typing. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision.
  • This position requires average to above-average visual acuity and hearing.

The base annual salary range for this full-time and exempt position is $24.75 plus benefits, including insurance plans as applicable. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and scope of responsibilities. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by key factors such as work experience, skills, abilities, and job-related education and training.
