Smoke Shop BBQ is currently seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of General Manager, focusing on overall operations and floor supervision. This role entails overseeing the restaurant’s day-to-day activities to ensure profitability through effective management strategies. The General Manager will report to the Operations Manager and Director of Operations.

Job Responsibilities
Core & Strategic
- Oversee guest experiences from start to finish, ensuring staff is serving food and drink in a manner that enthusiastically represents The Smoke Shop mission and values.
- Seek to make the restaurants as busy as possible, maximizing restaurant layout, reservation structure, and overall calendar.
- Act as a key member of the management team influencing restaurant operations, both financial and cultural, with a full restaurant focus, including the recruitment and training of new managers
- During service, strive to ensure all FOH staff is delivering superior service. Be present at the front door, tableside and communicate efficiently with BOH team members.
- Serve as the primary link between Front and Back of House staff to communicate necessary information required for smooth and efficient service including menu information, special events and service needs as they arrive.
- Manage the responsible serving of food and alcohol during service each day, ensuring guest safety regarding allergens, as well as responsible service of alcohol.
- Execute all restaurant procedures related to opening the restaurant, closing of the restaurants and mid shift checklists related to equipment, steps of service and product.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise to maintain positive, interactive dining experiences that create repeat guests and memorable moments.
- Manage situations as they arise working to recover guest experiences when necessary
- Program Toast with appropriate menus and make any POS changes to reflect new or updated food and beverage.
- Manage daily and weekly cleaning schedule and ensure it is completed by the team.
- Order necessary supplies for the restaurant, including beverages, tableware, and paper goods, as needed and in line with established inventory. Act on any areas that need to be addressed, based on feedback provided.
- Ensure that food, beverage, and dry goods inventory is completed and submitted.
- Recruit, hire and train all FOH staff, overseeing restaurant training by position.
- Create weekly schedule for FOH team ensuring appropriate coverage for all shifts based on business volume, employee availability and skill set.
- Conduct forecasting of potential business to adjust staff scheduling (both for BOH and FOH) for the coming week.
Management Duties
Schedule : Full-Time, varying schedule, available on nights, weekends and holidays.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience : 5 years of prior restaurant service experience, 3 in management role. Excellent hospitality and customer service skills. Experience in high-volume restaurant. Result-driven, with a proven ability to be a self-starter. Excellent organizational & communication skills. Knowledge of safe cleaning and sanitizing practices in a restaurant environment. Positive attitude, sense of urgency, and willingness to develop FOH staff.
Physical Demands : Stand for the entirety of an 8 hour shift. Lift and transport items more than 50 lbs. Frequently kneel, bend over, lift items above head, work in small or cramped spaces. Work in areas of high or low temperatures. Work quickly and safely in stressful circumstances.
