TITLE: Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Pediatric Consultant (IECMH-C)

HOURS: Full-time (30-40h/week) non-exempt (This position is benefits eligible)

HOURLY PAY RANGE: $30.50-$31.67/hour

JOB SUMMARY: This position provides infant and early childhood mental health consultation at a Rochester based pediatric medical practice that serves children in foster care. This role provides IECMH consultation, short-term clinical assessments and screenings, clinical support, and referrals regarding identified infants and young children (ages 0 to 6), their families, and caregivers. Additionally, this position supports pediatric clinic staff and other professionals by providing coaching, training and consultation related to IECMH informed practices. They are a representative of IECMH practices, program, and the agency through community collaboratives and professional workgroups. The position requires a strong commitment to trauma informed and relationship-based practices, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and professional reflective capacity.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: As a leading infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH) training program since 2012, SPCC has been formally and strategically working to advance IECMH professional competencies and IECMH multi-disciplinarily capacity locally and state-wide. SPCC founded the Mary Ellen Institute (MEI), named in honor of the young child at the heart of SPCC’s origin, who found healing and health after an early childhood full of trauma and adversity through caring and skilled professionals. The Mary Ellen Institute’s mission is to increase access to evidence-informed IECMH training, support, consultation, and supervision for professionals. MEI’s passion lies in advancing access to quality, relationally driven, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and developmentally appropriate services across infant and young child disciplines, in turn improving holistic developmental outcomes for infants and young children throughout their lifespan.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work or a related field.

Licensed as a mental health practitioner upon hire (e.g., LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LCAT). In some circumstances (e.g., licensure changes due to relocation to NYS) we may consider candidates who become licensed within six months of hire.

Experience and expertise in clinical work with infants, young children and their families, with specific understanding of generational trauma, trauma, loss, poverty and adversity, attachment theory, child maltreatment, intimate partner violence, and caregiver-child relationships, from an IECMH orientation.

Strong ability to communicate and collaborate well with other professionals with diverse identities, social locations, and experiences.

Familiarity with utilizing assessment and screening tools focused on the development of children ages 0-6 and their caregivers including the DC:0–5™ Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood.

Demonstrates high reflective capacity and practice, values relationship-based, trauma informed service provision with cultural humility and responsiveness.

Ability to navigate and support others during times of crises in a calming manner.
